Early communication and an early comprehensive review of the worker’s situation can identify potential return to work barriers at a time when they are simple to address.
Identifying barriers to return to work early. Job modifications facilitate early return and are best designed in a partnership between the employer (supervisor) and the employee. The earlier this occurs, the better the outcome. Other interventions will be explored, such as changes to the workplace, rehabilitation and training, increasing upfront costs but providing long-term savings.
Expected Outcome
Participants will be able to identify barriers to return to work early, and therefore be able to set up a partnership approach in early stages.
Early intervention and a focus on returning to work will decrease sick leave and increase the likelihood of a return to work. Participants will learn strategies to enable cost effective and improved recovery. Strategies for effectively communicating between healthcare providers and insurance company will save time and improve the relationship between the employee and the employer.
