Managing psychological risks / identifying stress in the workplace

Stress in the workplace is preventable and can be assessed like any other risk if the matter is approached systematically.  There are indicators which signal that danger is arising.

Work-related stress can lead to conditions such as depression, anxiety, nervousness, fatigue and heart disease.  It also causes very considerable disturbances to productivity, creativity and competitiveness.  It can affect anyone in any sector in any size organisation.

This session focuses on:

  • Primary prevention (elimination) – Identify stress, determining the stress risk and control the stress risk. Early intervention that reduces  the extent of and/or impact of stress indicators = reduce workplace absence
  • Secondary prevention – Continuously improving risk control. The development of strategies appropriate to managing stress and conflict within your workplace.

Expected outcome

Stress management / education improves the participant’s ability to recognise early warning signs of stress, and better manage stress in their workplace,  Increased knowledge on the causes of stress, the processes involved to successfully manage stress, responding appropriately and providing support, and the planning of suitable recovery and resolution, keeping the employee safe and productive at work.
